Just off word of a big investment in crypto-currency mining, a local businessman is getting into another virtual venture.
Digital marketing company, Elevator Studio says it has formed a joint venture with Adam Weitsman to invest in and develop a sort of digital real estate called Metaverse land that can be developed virtually.
The venture will develop digital entertainment venues, casinos and artistic projects.
The owner of Upstate Shredding and Elevator Studio recently completed a one-million-dollar purchase of digital land inside of Big Time Studios Multiplayer Action R-P-G. Big Time Studios is involved in a number of well-known gaming site like Fortnite, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.
A news release from the marketing firm associated with the project says digital real estate purchases have been on the rise recently with “sales often exceeding 100-million dollars per week.”
The release likens the venture to a digital version of the California Gold Rush.
