High school boys basketball

MONDAY

Bedford at Bishop Carroll, 7:30

Notable: Two teams in the middle the the Laurel Highlands pack. A win for either team would be helpful.

Portage at Conemaugh Township, 7:30

Notable: Conemaugh Twp. should provide a big test for undefeated Mustangs. CT coming off lopsided win over Windber.

Richland at Bishop Guilfoyle, 7:15

Notable: Round one went to BG at the SportsCenter, but teams could still end up meeting two more times following this game.

Williamsburg at McConnellsburg, 7:30

Notable: Blue Pirates will be tested by one of the ICC South’s tougher squads.

TUESDAY

Hollidaysburg at Tyrone, 7:30

Notable: Golden Tigers won the first game but have been dealing with low numbers and they attempt for the season sweep.

WEDNESDAY

Bishop Guilfoyle at Bishop Carroll, 7:30

Notable: Always worth watching when college friends Chris Drenning (BG) and Cosie Aliquo (BC) match up on the court.

Penn Cambria at Richland, 7:30

Notable: Rams finish off extremely tough stretch (BG, Central, BG, Penn Cambria). Interested to see how Trent Rozich does against Panthers’ size.

FRIDAY

Claysburg-Kimmel at Northern Bedford, 7:30

Notable: Bulldogs and Black Panthers are both around the middle of the ICC South, which has been a good move so far for C-K.

Harrisburg at Altoona, 6:30

Notable: Mountain Lions will try and pull off the upset they narrowly missed on the road when they get back into action this week.

Hollidaysburg at Clearfield, 7:30

Notable: Bison edged Hollidaysburg at home, but Golden Tiger sophomores are starting to gain some experience.

Northern Cambria at Cambria Heights, 7:15

Notable: Basketball version of “Coal Bowl” should be a game for the Highlanders, who have played better since a slow start.

SATURDAY

Altoona at Mifflin County, 7

Notable: Rematch of last year’s District 6 Class 6A final. It’s always an important game when Lions play a possible playoff foe.

High school GIRLS basketball

MONDAY

Bellwood-Antis at Portage, 7:30

Notable: Unique out-of-conference series started in Portage a few years ago. Lady Mustangs have held their own despite a slew of injuries.

WEDNESDAY

Bishop Carroll at Bishop Guilfoyle, 7:15

Notable: Lady Marauders have been playing better recently, and this game could be a District 6 Class 1A playoff preview.

Central at Central Cambria, 7:15

Notable: It’s been a tough season for both of these area squads, but playing each other will likely bring out the best in each team.

THURSDAY

Juniata Valley at Williamsburg, 7:30 (varsity only)

Notable: Williamsburg has also seemingly turned a corner recently, but Juniata Valley should provide more of a challenge than some of the smaller schools in the ICC North.

Northern Bedford at Claysburg-Kimmel, 7

Notable: Lady Panthers had a tough second half against Everett last week, and C-K’s Rebekah Claar might be the best player on the court in this one.

FRIDAY

Bishop Carroll at Penn Cambria, 7:30

Notable: Penn Cambria had some tough games last week and should be able to get back on track with its press in this one.

SATURDAY

Bellwood-Antis at Everett, 5

Notable: Teams (and coaches Jim Swaney of B-A and Keith Moyer of Everett) have met several times over the years for the ICC championship.

Tyrone at Northumberland Christian, 3:30

Notable: Teams played a very competitive game at Tyrone last season, and Lady Eagles making the trip this year.
