NEW CASTLE — The Indiana Department of Transportation will close a portion of Ind. 103 for a road reconstruction project.
Work will take place in three separate sections over the course of two construction years, according to an INDOT release. The project will include a road reconstruction, new bridge overlay, ADA-compliant ramps and some utility work in conjunction with the city of New Castle.
The first section will be on Ind. 103 in both directions from Henry County Road 300-S to Ind. 38. There will be intermittent lane closures as crews complete a new overlay on the road. These lane closures are scheduled to begin on or after April 11.
The second section will be on Ind. 103 in both directions from Ind. 38 up to Washington Street. This will be a full closure, beginning this summer. Details on the exact date will be released at a later time, INDOT stated.
The third section will be from Washington Street to the Little Blue River Bridge. This will also be a full closure, scheduled to close on or after April 11. This closure will be for road reconstruction and a new bridge deck overlay. This section is scheduled to open in early summer of 2022.
The two full closures will not happen at the same time, according to the release.
During each of the full closures, drivers are asked to follow the posted detour: Ind. 38 to Ind. 3 to U.S. 36. There will be limited local access during the full closures for residents.
