Reminder issued on Route 60 meeting Wednesday
The New York State Department of Transportation has issued a reminder regarding a public information meeting on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. pertaining to a proposed highway improvement project scheduled to begin next fall on State Route 60, from State Route 83 to U.S. Route 20, in the town of Pomfret.
The informal, open house meeting will be at the Fredonia Opera House, 9 Church St., in Fredonia. The session will feature displays about the project and provide an opportunity for discussion with NYSDOT representatives, who will be available to receive comments and answer individual questions. No formal presentation will be made. All meeting attendees will be required to wear a mask.
The purpose of the project is to improve highway operations and enhance safety along State Route 60 by widening the road to accommodate a center, two-way left-turn lane. The project also calls for the replacement of an existing box culvert south of State Route 83 to help prevent flooding and the extension of the existing sidewalk from the roundabout to McAllister Road.
For further information, or to request a sign language interpreter or assistive listening system, please contact Robert Schaller, assistant regional design engineer, at (716) 847-3043, or write to the New York State Department of Transportation, 100 Seneca Street, Buffalo, New York 14203, and reference Project Identification Number 5814.50.
