Hello and welcome to The Athletic’s coverage of Cameroon against Egypt in the second Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.
Tournameny hosts Cameroon have arguably been the most complete team at AFCON. They beat The Gambia and Comoros to get to this stage of the compeition.
Egypt, meanwhile, have faced stern tests to reach the semi-finals, beating Ivory Coast on penalties before a 2-1 win over Morocco booked their place in today’s game.
The winners of this match will face Senegal in Sunday’s final, after they beat Burkina Faso 3-1 in yesterday’s first semi-final.
Cameroon vs Egypt team news
Cameroon have the tournament’s two top scorers in Vincent Aboubakar (six) and Karl Toko Ekambi (five), and are set to continue with the same side that triumphed over The Gambia.
Egypt have a minor goalkeeping crisis, with their two most experienced stoppers — Mohamed El Shenawy and Gabaski — both suffering from injury. Aston Villa winger Trezeguet may get a start after scoring the winner against Morocco last time out.
